WIP update…still watercolor on balsa. Almost done?
WIP…watercolor on balsa.
A poorly painted sketch of Ms. Etta James. RIP <3
20 minute sketch exercise that doesn’t look much like MIA.
This is my mom’s belated birthday gift - a painting of her red golden retriever, Riley. He’s a pretty epic dog, hopefully she likes it…
And here’s the fourth…this is to go with my Electric Eyewear page I posted a few days back. They didn’t really go anywhere, unfortunately, but it was a really fun little exercise.
Eeek, this one got a bit out of hand…I assure you my friend Kelli does not have such a fucked up face. Oh well, these things happen.
Here’s the second one in the series, a pair of K-Swiss shoes I did way back when. You can see more of my work at K-Swiss here. Cheers!
So here’s a painting of a lacrosse head. Random, eh? The plan is to do a painting for each of the intro pages on my portfolio. It’s a little time consuming, but hey. More to come later…
This is maybe a work in progress…I haven’t decided yet. If I do revisit it, it will probably be in a couple months or so. More from the AZ Muse editorial from Vogue China, Sound of Silence…
Going to bike polo tournament in Lawrence this weekend, and I will see my lovely friend Natalie. Hopefully she’ll model for me so I can stop copying photos from fashion magazines.
So, I guess I’m a little obsessed with Arizona Muse. Don’t tell Freja, k? It’s her eyebrows. I linked the photo to the whole editorial from Vogue China - Sound of Silence. I think I’m going to do more from the editorial because they’re fun, and then I am going to move away from skinny young things for a while. Stop judging me.
In other news…nada.
Portrait #2 of a human in watercolor. I tried to use a wee bit more restraint this time, and I fought the urge to soak the background in black and gray. Skin tones in watercolor are effing hard. I have 6 sheets of watercolor paper left and I’m not allowed to use any other medium until I’ve used those suckers up.
Thinking about going to Untitled at the Denver Art Museum tonight…or staying home and eating pizza and drinking wine with my boyfriend. Win win, I suppose.
My first portrait of a human in watercolor, Arizona Muse from a Vogue Spain shoot (I know, it looks nothing like her). I gave up on it last night after struggling with it for a little while…I definitely need to lose to heaviness when I work in watercolor. I also need to get some original subject matter together, but since I’m just trying to figure out the medium I suppose it’s ok…meh.
I spent last week in Vegas looking at bikes. Vegas is a terrible place, but bikes are cool.
Finally got a photo! A blurry iPhone photo, to be sure, but a photo none the less. Birthday gift for my lovely sister-in-law, a watercolor of her Tennessee Walker, Colors.
Art walk in the Santa Fe arts district tonight…hopefully the terrific thunderstorm that’s on right now will subside in the next hour or so.
