Opening this evening at Denver’s David B. Smith Gallery is a solo exhibition of new works from artist Oliver Vernon (Vol. 17 cover artist), aptly titled ‘Tilt.’ The new show illuminates Vernon’s signature style of spacial chaos by using a technique of layered images of landscapes, nature and detailed patterns. Using both a colorful and monochromatic palettes, the works present a kind of anxiety that only further unravels with careful studying of the many contradictory elements present in the paintings. Created intuitvely, the artists says “Painting is like chess. Each move is informed by the previous, and opens a new range of possibilities.”

I went to see these the other day and HOT DAMN!  They were really cool.  Way better in person.  David B. Smith Gallery also has some really great Gregory Euclide pieces.  I am inspired! (But still not painting because I am lazy)

P.S. I got a jobby job!  Starting at Thule/Case Logic on Monday.  Awesome, but this also means less time to paint.  Still, since we’re moving out to the boonies and my boyfriend and I will only have Saturdays off together, I might be more of a homebody.  We shall see.

Tuesday Feb 2 @ 12:54pm

Working real hard on the whole “getting a job” thing.  It’s getting a little discouraging, but hey…anyway, here’s some more of my ID stuff!  Woohoo!  Still working on the paintings…

Saturday Jan 1 @ 02:41pm
And here’s the fourth…this is to go with my Electric Eyewear page I posted a few days back.  They didn’t really go anywhere, unfortunately, but it was a really fun little exercise.

Eeek, this one got a bit out of hand…I assure you my friend Kelli does not have such a fucked up face.  Oh well, these things happen.

Here’s the second one in the series, a pair of K-Swiss shoes I did way back when.  You can see more of my work at K-Swiss here.  Cheers!

So here’s a painting of a lacrosse head.  Random, eh?  The plan is to do a painting for each of the intro pages on my portfolio.  It’s a little time consuming, but hey.  More to come later…

So I’ve been MIA…things have been a little upside down lately.  I lost my job due to some unforeseen circumstances, so I’ve been working on my portfolio and trying to find a new one.  If you’re interested in seeing some of my design work, click through on the Electric Eyewear rendering.
Paintings soon!  I’m working on some belated birthday presents.
